SimQuest 6.4 help

 

 

SimQuest Meeting

 

SimQuest Meeting allows learners to collaborate with each other on a simulation over a local area network or the internet. Microsoft Netmeeting is required to use SimQuest meeting. The SimQuest simulation must contain the SimQuest Meeting element. This element can be dragged from the library and dropped at any convenient location in the simulation.

 

Users must follow the next steps to work with SimQuest meeting.

 

User 1

User 2



Step 1-1: Go to the Windows Start menu and press “Run...”

The following screen appears:

 

 

 

Step 1-2: Type “cmd.exe” and press OK

 

The following screen appears:

 

 

Step 1-3: Type “ipconfig” and press Enter

 

The window shows the IP-configuration of the PC:

 

 

Step 1-4: Write down the IP Address en give it User 2

 

Step 1-5: Close the window

 

Step 1-6: Start the SimQuest learning environment

 

The following screen appears:

 

Step 2-1: Go to the Windows Start menu and press “Run...”

The following screen appears:

 

 

 

Step 2-2: Type “conf.exe” and press OK

 

Step 1-7: If the screen below appears, go to Step 1-8. If not, go to Step 1-10

 

 

Step 2-3: If the screen below appear, go to Step 2-4. If not, go to Step 2-7

 

 

Step 2-4: Press “Next”

 

Step 1-8: Type 1 or 2 random letters in First name, Last name and E-mail address (not your own details!)

 

 

Step 1-9: Press "Next" 7 or 8 times and close the window

 

Step 2-5: Type 1 or 2 random letters in First name, Last name and E-mail address (not your own details!)

 

 

Stap 2-6: Press "Next" 7 or 8 times and close the window

 

The program Netmeeting will start after a few seconds

 

User 2 tries to contact your computer

 

Step 1-10: Check if Netmeeting is active. If so, the screen below shows a "name" and "status".

 

 

If you see no name and status, close SimQuest and restart the SimQuest simulation.

 

Step 2-7: Type the IP-address of User 1 by (1) and press the telephone button (2)

 

 

Step 1-11: If the window below appears, press “Accept”

 

 

Netmeeting tries to contact User's 1 PC. This may take a while.

 

If nothing happens for 2 minutes, ask User 1 to close SimQuest and restart the SimQuest simulation. In this case, press button (3) and after User 1 has restarted the simulation, press button (2) (see step 2-7)

 

When the PC's of User 1 and User 2 made contact, the users both see the screen below.

One of the users can log in the users can work on the simulation together.

 

 

Both users can operate the simulation, but only one at a time. Only one user can type or use the mouse. The other can take over the control by double clicking the mouse.
