Why should you take the presentation of the information into consideration?

The presentation of the information is important because the visual perception of the information is the first step in learning. The way the information is presented could provide a structure or put the information in a meaningful context.

If you think that the message of the information is important and necessary for the understanding, it should presented well, otherwise there is a threat that the learners are not willing to spent energy to examine the information.

The following guidelines should be taken into consideration:

1. Not all learners are the same. It depends on the learner characteristics of a learner if they like for instance the use of audio;
2. Take into consideration that the learners already make use of other systems, or other applications in SimQuest. Use for instance the same symbols for the same buttons for the same functions in all applications. Familiarity and consistency are important;
3. Choose meaningful organizational principles for instance for the names of the assignments;
4. Simplicity: if the interface of a simulation is too complicated the learning effect will decrease.
