What are transformative learning processes?
Transformative processes are those discovery learning processes
that 'generate knowledge'. By applying transformative learning
processes learners 'transform' domain information into knowledge
[1].
We distinguish the following transformative learning processes
[2]:
- analysis: this is making an overview of the domain information
(e.g., variables and relations between them);
- hypotheses generation: this the formulation of a relation
between one or more variables in the simulation model;
- testing: involves those activities that are necessary for
furnishing data on which the learner expects to be able to accept
or refute a hypothesis, or to create a new hypothesis;
- data interpretation: this is interpreting the data without
direct reference to model relations;
- evaluation and generalising: in which the results of the learning
process are put into a more general context;
