What are regulative learning processes?

Regulative processes are those learning processes that are needed to let the overall study process function [1]. Regulative processes are necessary to manage the discovery process. We distinguish the following regulative processes [2]:

• Planning: the work method which is thought out in advance;
• Verifying: checking the correctness of actions and results at a conceptual level;
• Monitoring: by monitoring learners observe and keep track of their own study process.
