Botsingen

In Botsingen or 'Collisions', various aspects of motion, momentum and kinetic energy are explained. This is done using a graphic representation of one or two balls that collide with walls or each other in various ways. The simulation gradually builds up from analysing simple unanimous motion (x,t-diagrams, v,t-diagrams and a,t-diagrams are explained) to analysing different types of collisions:

  • Collisions with a fixed wall
  • Elastic collisions
  • Inelastic collisions

The simulation contains a lot of different assignments (50 or more) in four different contexts, each with full feedback. There is a clear, gradual build-up between contexts, and also within every context as such. This simulation, or elements from it, is a real addition to every dynamics course.
